From Harmony-Montessori
Our traditional, core program is a three-hour morning class, from 9:00 am to noon. This morning class consists of a balance of individual work time, which is the heart of Montessori education; group time for stories, music, sharing, and brief lessons; and outside play. A popular four-hour option is also available for children who stay for lunch.
We always recommend five days a week as being the best schedule for the child, with the most consistency and benefits. However, due to continuing demand, varied life needs, and appreciation from many parents, we also offer four-days-a-week as an enrollment option.
For the children who are of kindergarten age, a key part of our program is the "Extended-Day" schedule, which goes from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is the culmination of the 3- or 4-year primary Montessori cycle. This longer day provides a balance of the rich, mixed-age class in the mornings, with more advanced lessons, individual attention, social experiences, and occasional field trips, with their smaller group of peers in the afternoons.
Harmony offers a high-quality all-day Montessori program, with early and late care and flexible all-day enrollments for all children. We are open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. So while some of the younger children leave by noon or 1:00 pm, many stay with us for longer hours or a full day. The younger children usually have a nap period from 1:15 to 3:00 pm, after which they join the late care group in one of the classrooms. Some sleep, some just rest for a while. Others have transitioned out of the need for naps, and they remain in their classroom as part of the afternoon group. We individualize these routines according to the needs of each child.
Our commitment is to live by Montessori principles all day without "before- or after-care" of lesser quality.
